Working with business to support young people into high quality apprenticeships

Joining forces with ambitious organisations to transform our mission into reality

Our mission
Day One’s mission is to improve the career progression of school leavers from low-income households, helping those who face barriers to employment to take their first steps into rewarding and well-paid careers.

"I am delighted to be working with Day One, their hands-on practical support will help upskills our students and prepare them for the transition from school to careers. Their industry-led tech masterclasses are a hit with students and teachers."
Karen Chamberlain, Headteacher.

The challenge
One major challenge is the digital skills gap, which continues to widen as industries evolve faster than education systems can keep up. At the same time, digital poverty prevents many young people from accessing the resources and training they need to build the skills that employers demand. Without intervention, these barriers can leave talented individuals locked out of stable, high-security jobs in the tech sector.
Bridging the gap
To bridge this gap, we are working in London and Manchester to help young people gain the skills and confidence needed to transition successfully from school to employment through apprenticeships. Our model is built around Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring high-quality career preparation.
But we don’t stop there—our support continues beyond school, helping young people navigate the challenges of starting an apprenticeship and ensuring they stay on track toward a successful career. By providing tailored support, industry connections, and direct pathways into apprenticeships, we’re not just filling vacancies—we’re transforming futures.
